The Metaverse and the Elders
Are we all overlooking one of the most important audiences for the Metaverse because of our focus on early adapters?
Dear Avatars,
Twitter seems to have to save every penny under Elon Musk - and is actually closing down Revue: »From January 18th, 2023, it will no longer be possible to access your Revue account,« Revue said on Wednesday.
We will try to import the old newsletters, but despite API keys and an export request, this is obviously not working at the moment.
So this might not only be the first newsletter on Substack - but also the »first« newsletter of Metaliv.es - that will remain available on the net.
The Metaverse and the Elders
In the meantime there was the first survey which has astonished us massively! And interestingly, the results on Twitter and LinkedIn were almost identical.
The question was: »Which age group will benefit most from the Metaverse in the long term?«
And the majority actually said that the young would benefit particularly and the elderly almost not at all!?
Granted: About a third said all age groups would benefit equally from the Metaverse.
Developing Concept
It might be difficult to answer as the Metaverse is still a developing concept and its potential uses and applications are not yet fully understood.
It is likely that different age groups will find different aspects of the Metaverse appealing and beneficial, and that it will ultimately be used by people of all ages.
For example, younger people may be drawn to the social and entertainment aspects of the Metaverse, while older people may find practical uses for it in areas such as remote work and education.
But are we all overlooking one of the most important audiences for the Metaverse because of our focus on early adapters?
Mobility and Accessibility
Old people, who may be less mobile or have limited access to certain activities and experiences due to their age, could benefit in particular.
The Metaverse could allow older people to continue to participate in activities and experiences that they enjoy, even if they are unable to do so in the physical world.
The Metaverse could provide older people with opportunities to socialize, learn new skills, and engage in hobbies and other activities that they may not have been able to do otherwise.
Do not forget the elders!
For the youth, the Metaverse is an additional option: For the elders, it might be the only option!
Older people often have more disposable income and may be more willing to invest in new technologies and experiences.
This could make them a valuable target market for companies looking to sell products and services in the Metaverse.
Older people may have a greater need for the types of experiences and activities that the Metaverse can provide.
The Metaverse could provide older people with opportunities for social interaction and engagement, which are known to be important for maintaining cognitive function and overall health.
Happy holidays!
